We are Jørgen Magnus and Dorina, a musical couple who work as freelancers. We know the challenges that come with this life—the uncertainty of the next assignment, the next payment, and the many obstacles we face in everyday life. We have experienced the frustration of not being able to practice in our apartment because of our neighbors, and the feeling of having to sneak into educational institutions to practice or take admission. It is a constant hunt for opportunities to show our talent and workshop for the jobs we dream of.
We understand how difficult it can be to maintain motivation when you struggle with the most basic things. For us musicians, a good practice environment is as important as nutrition for the body—it is absolutely necessary for survival. Unfortunately, this is not always recognized in the society we live in, and that is precisely why we have chosen to take action.
Building something new in Oslo is not only expensive, but also a challenging task when it comes to finding central rehearsal spaces. That is why we came up with the idea of collaborating with the churches—places that have both pianos and grand pianos, that offer fantastic acoustics, and that have been central to the development of music for hundreds of years. Music and religion have always had a special connection, and we want to strengthen this by creating great rehearsal spaces.
After many brainstorming sessions, we quickly realized that the project was more extensive than we had imagined. It became clear that we needed help from someone with experience in web development, marketing, and the unknown aspects of starting a new concept. We are therefore happy to have Ada, Dorina’s sister, with us, who has a master’s degree with top marks from the Oslo School of Economics and has extensive experience in the field. Ada has a fantastic drive to help, find solutions, and build businesses from scratch.
